The Heart of Texas is a Vibrant Artistic Community with Rich Cultural Heritage

The Bosque Museum in Clifton has a number of collections representing the history of Bosque County, including one of the largest repositories of Norwegian artifacts in the country. King Olaf V of Norway visited in 1982 to see the artifacts of early Norwegian Pioneer, Cleng Peerson.

The Burlington-Rock Island Railroad Museum, or B-RI, in Teague was built in 1906 as a hub for various railroads until 1966. It holds a Seagraves vintage fire truck, a real caboose and a steam locomotive named “Big Mike.”

The Dr. Pepper Museum & Free Enterprise Institute, in Waco, is located in the Artesian Manufacturing and Bottling Company, the first building that manufactured Dr. Pepper. The museum is dedicated to educating and entertaining the general public on the soft drink industry and the American economic system.

Old Fort Parker, in Groesbeck, is a historical site dating back to pioneer days prior to Texas being a state. It was established by the Parker family in 1834. Today, it is the site of events like a Thanksgiving Trail Ride and Christmas at the Fort.

The Freestone County Historical Museum, in Fairfield, is a historical preservation of Freestone County. It includes two log houses, an Antique Telephone building and the Bethel Assembly of God church.

The Hill County Cell Block Museum, in Hillsboro, was the old county jail built in 1893 and is entered in the National Register of Historic Places. Limestone County Historical Museum.

The Mayborn Museum Complex at Baylor University includes a natural science and cultural history museum representing Central Texas. In addition, it includes nine wooden-frame buildings of the Governor Bill and Vara Daniel Historic Village representing the 1890’s.

The Ringness House Museum, in Clifton, honors and illustrates the Norwegian way of life that was established historically in Bosque County. Clifton is officially recognized as the Norwegian Capital of Texas.

The Texas Rangers Hall of Fame, in Waco, preserves the history of the Texas Rangers service. Dating back to 1836, prior to Texas achieving statehood, the Texas Rangers still serve as a U.S, legislative law enforcement agency today.

The Texas Sports Hall of Fame, in Waco, is a non-profit organization committed to honoring and remembering great sports legends of Texas.

The Waco Mammoth National Monument is a 100-acre wooded parkland that includes the fossil specimens of the nation's only recorded evidence of a nursery herd of ice age Columbian mammoths.
