Regional Emergency Preparedness Program

homeland security sealThe HOTCOG Homeland Security Department continues to build the network of local, state, and federal stakeholders to increase community resilience, preparedness, and response capabilities for first responders during times of disaster and emergencies.

Our partnership between the Homeland Security/Emergency Preparedness Program and local municipalities strengthens planning, cooperation, training, coordination, and exercises throughout the six-county region. Key initiatives include:

  • Community Preparedness: We assist local jurisdictions with the training and implementation of regional preparedness programs such as CERT and ENS.
  • Emergency Management Planning: COG staff assist in creating and updating emergency management plans at the regional level.
  • Grant Compliance: We help grantees of State Homeland Security Program funds comply with federal and state requirements.
  • Interoperable Communications Resources: We continually update and improve communications resources to facilitate effective coordination during emergencies.
  • Technical Support: Our team provides support in all areas related to emergency management and homeland security.
