The team at HOTCOG is celebrating Giving Tuesday this month and so can you! On Giving Tuesday, Heart of Texas residents and every community in the world have an opportunity to make a donation to or volunteer for their favorite charities and nonprofits. People everywhere are encouraged to give back to the communities they live in during this annual celebration that falls on November 29th this year. Making a small or large monetary donation, volunteering, or assisting someone you know are a few ways to show compassion and kindness this Giving Tuesday.

Giving Tuesday is an emphasis on the importance of community and togetherness in the Heart of Texas. Not only does it bring people together, but it also urges them to start thinking about others. A reminder to spend some time helping those who are struggling is much-needed during the holidays.

Where to Give in the Heart of Texas

You can find many nonprofits and charities in the Heart of Texas that are bringing about positive change. These entities make a difference to the environment, children, senior citizens, the homeless, veterans, animals, the overall surrounding community, and so much more. Because they depend on donations and volunteers, Heart of Texas residents must be willing to help out.

HOTCOG invites members of Bosque, Falls, Freestone, Hill, Limestone, and McLennan Counties to browse the following local charities and nonprofits and keep them in mind this Giving Tuesday!

Benefits of Supporting Local Charities

Charities and nonprofits have a huge impact on the economy, both locally and nationally. Every dollar that is donated to a charity in a Heart of Texas community will help the local economy of that area as it stays in the region. In 2016 in the United States, nonprofits were responsible for 12.3 million jobs plus 10.2 percent of private sector jobs. Nonprofit employment is now equivalent to that of the manufacturing industry.

Charities and nonprofits in the Heart of Texas not only produce new job opportunities, but they also contribute to quality of life enhancement. They help people in need, bring hope and happiness to the Heart of Texas, and help make it a delightful place to live on your own or with family. Providing them with support can even guide children in learning to give back.
